thoughts on TOOs cylinder reinforcement techniques

im sure you've seen TOO's posting techniques where he screws something onto the block to reinforce the middle of the cylinder which is the most stressed area due to thrust angles.

I'm sure this makes the block exceptionally strong, however, we also seen how detonation (Rboosted 40psi) usually cracks the top of the cylinder. Most block i've seen usually fail in this manner. often do to stock ecu's, too much timing, too much boost.

the question is how does this compare to bensons sleeves. personally i've been running the bensons for over 2 years periodically cranking the boost to 22 psi without a problem. I have never never seen a benson block fail, when built motors go its usually the pistons, leaving the sleeves and rods in reusable condition.

Now which process is better? keep in mind that TOO's process is significantly more affordable.

TOOs method is a tried and proven one in other forms of competition. From what I've been able to find, the trick is to not have the pins apply too much pressure on the cylinder, or it will make it pinch in when the engine warms up.
TOO also says that detonation is what brakes cylinders and he uses J&S to stop it. From looking at the pressure points on Hondas, I agree that the cylinders break at the middle first and the crack spreads to the top.
I'd spend the extra money and do the sleeves. You need to have someone who knows has experience doing either way you pick.
